1. Two years of professional probation experience; or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Deputy Probation Officer with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Candidates must meet minimum peace officer standards as specified in California Government Code Sections 1029 and 1031, including but not limited to: no one currently on probation for a misdemeanor; no prior felony convictions (unless fully pardoned); good moral character as determined by thorough background investigation; submission of fingerprints for purpose of a criminal record check; and found to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition which might adversely affect the powers of a peace officer.
Possession of a valid California Driver's License and U.S. Citizenship or permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for citizenship.
Knowledge of: peace officer probation theory and practice; federal, state, and local laws relating to probation work; casework objectives and techniques; court practices and procedures.
Job Description: This is the lead worker level in the Deputy Probation Officer series, as distinguished from Deputy Probation Officer, which is the entry-/journey-level class, and Deputy Probation Officer, Supervising, which is the supervisory level in charge of a unit.
About Salary: $25.29-$30.88 every hour / $4,399-$5,370 monthly / Range: 5810
Definition: Under general supervision, performs professional
casework services for adult and juvenile offenders for the most
complex or difficult cases; provides technical guidance to junior
staff members; assists the Deputy Probation Officer, Supervising,
with supervisory duties on an as-needed basis; and performs related
duties as required.
