1. Three years of experience as a probation officer, including one year of lead work experience; or,
2. one year of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Deputy Probation Officer, Sr. with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Additional Qualifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required.
Candidates must meet minimum peace officer standards as specified in California Government Code Sections 1029 and 1031 including but not limited to: no one currently on probation for a misdemeanor; no prior felony convictions (unless fully pardoned); good moral character as determined by thorough background investigation, submission of fingerprints for purpose of a criminal record check; and found to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition which might adversely affect the powers of a peace officer.
Citizenship: United States citizenship or permanent resident alien status is required. A permanent resident alien must be eligible and have applied for citizenship
Knowledge of: probation theory and practice; federal, state, and local laws relating to probation work; principles of supervision; departmental policies and procedures; and standard English grammar and usage.
Job Description: This is the full supervisory class in which incumbents are responsible for administration and direction of a unit staffed by Probation Officers and other assigned staff; incumbents also perform difficult investigations and handle case intake as necessary.
About Salary: $29.08-$35.51 every hour / $5,058-$6,175 monthly / Range: 6090
