Emergency Services Planner Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. One year of professional experience related to research, planning, administration, or operation of emergency planning and management activities, including responsibility for developing written plans and making policy recommendations to decision-makers; or,
2. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Additional Qualifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License and availability for emergency response are required.

Knowledge of: local government general responsibilities, goals and functions related to emergency management; types of hazards and their potential effects on the community and sensitive habitats; techniques of emergency response; basic principles of program planning and administration; methods of communication, publicity techniques, and media utilization; standard English usage and grammar.


Job Description: Emergency Services Planners work within assigned programs that include: All Risk, Hazardous Materials, Oil and Gas, and Public Education. They work closely with other public and private agencies in their program areas and act with considerable independence within the Office of Emergency Services. Assignment within a program may depend on an incumbent's specialized knowledge and abilities.


About Salary: $22.62-$27.61 every hour / $3,934-$4,803 monthly / Range: 5586

Definition: Under general direction, prepares and revises emergency response plans for the County; responds to emergencies and coordinates emergency response efforts of participating agencies; designs and delivers related training support for County emergency service workers, community groups, private industry, and volunteers relative to local jurisdiction plans; and performs other related duties as required.
