Financial Systems Analyst Job Description

Ability To Work:

Financial Systems Analyst I:

1. Possession of a valid certificate as a Certified Public Accountant; and one year of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst that included participation in the design of financial accounting systems; or,
2. possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field, and two years of professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst that included participation in the design of financial accounting systems; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Financial Systems Analyst II:

1. Possession of a valid certificate as a Certified Public Accountant; and two years of increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of financial accounting system applications in a computer environment utilizing advanced database technology and independent operating platforms; or,
2. possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field, and three years of increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of financial accounting system applications in a computer environment utilizing advanced database technology and independent operating platforms; or,
3. possession of an associate's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field, and four years of increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of financial accounting system applications in a computer environment utilizing advanced database technology and independent operating platforms; or,
4. two years of experience performing the duties equivalent to Financial Systems Analyst I with Santa Barbara County; or,
5. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of:

Both Classes - Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including internal control systems; Generally Accepted Auditing Standards; methods of systems analysis and computer systems design; computer programming principles; applications development procedures; relational databases and database design methods; principles and practices of project management; standard English usage and grammar.
