1. Possession of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field, and five years of increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of financial accounting system applications, including two years of experience performing complex programming of financial accounting systems; or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to Financial Systems Analyst II with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of: systems analysis and computer systems design; advanced programming languages used in financial accounting systems; SQL Server database administration; principles and practices of project management; advanced database technology and database design methods; relationship between program code and the database technology; system design, testing, and implementation process; generally accepted accounting principles, including internal control systems; generally accepted auditing standards; standard English usage and grammar.
Job Description: This class is found only in the Auditor-Controller's Office. The Financial Systems Analyst, Senior is distinguished from the EDP Systems and Programming Analyst, Senior by its unique combination of technical programming skill and knowledge of accounting and financial systems. It is also distinguished from the Financial Systems Analyst II by its greater knowledge of programming and system design and analysis and by its responsibility for leading other Financial Systems Analysts in the design and implementation of the core programming architecture for the most complex and/or critical financial systems. It is further distinguished by its responsibility for project outcomes.
