1. Three years of increasingly responsible experience in firefighting, including experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Fire Engineer-Inspector with Santa Barbara County; or,
2. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities. (A standing on the current Santa Barbara County Fire Engineer-Inspector eligible list will satisfy the required Fire Engineer-Inspector experience.)
Applicants hired after December 26, 1988, shall be disqualified from further employment consideration if they use tobacco products in any form, on or off duty.
Knowledge of: fire prevention and fire suppression methods; federal, state, and county laws and regulations pertaining to fire protection; operation and maintenance of all types of firefighting and rescue equipment; local geography, including roads and water supply systems; all elements of the Departmental Policies and Procedures and the Incident Command System.
Job Description: This is a supervisory class and reports to a Fire Chief, Fire Battalion Chief, or Division Chief, with primary responsibility for the integrity, coordination, and performance of a team of firefighting personnel in a fire station, or staff capacity as assigned.

$25.16-$30.71 every hour / $6,126-$7,479 monthly / Range: 6474
Definition: Under direction, to function in a staff assignment,
or be in command of a fire station for a specified period of time,
with responsibility for supervising a fire prevention section, fire
suppression training, and presuppression activities; and to perform
related duties as required.
