1. four years of experience performing grading and drainage inspection, including two years at the journey level, that would provide an expert understanding of grading codes and ordinances, and current methods and materials; or,
2. two years performing duties equivalent to the class of Grading Inspector II with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Additional Qualifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required.
Knowledge of: codes and ordinances related to grading; current methods and materials related to grading, drainage, and erosion control; grading and drainage practices for large-scale complex projects; basic geometry and arithmetic.
Job Description: This class is distinguished from the Building Engineering Inspector Specialist in that the latter serves as a certified technical specialist in an area of building inspection, such as electrical or mechanical. This class is distinguished from the Building Engineering Inspector, Supervising in that the Grading Inspector, Senior is a leadworker responsible for training grading staff, whereas the Supervisor performs all supervisory duties for both the building and grading inspection staff.
About Salary: $26.96-$32.91 every hour / $4,689-$5,724 monthly / Range: 5938

processing and conducts inspections for complex large-scale grading
projects, trains grading inspection staff; and performs related
duties as assigned.
