Juvenile Institutions Officer Supervising Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. One year of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Juvenile Institutions Officer III; or,
2. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of: methods of training and supervision; Board of Corrections mandates, including training and facility requirements; community resources and work sites available for program development; psychological principles and techniques applicable to the care and rehabilitation of juvenile offenders; laws and regulations relating to the custody of juveniles; safety and security measures in a treatment or detention facility; and standard English grammar and usage.


Job Description: This class is distinguished from Juvenile Institutions Officer III by its responsibility for the supervision and training of subordinate staff. This class is further distinguished from Probation Institutions Supervisor by the latter's responsibility for the administration and supervision of institutional operations and program activities.


About Salary: $23.87-$29.14 every hour / $4,152-$5,069 monthly / Range: 5694

Definition: Under direction, coordinates and provides training to a group of juvenile institutions officers; supervises the work of subordinates; assumes responsibility for institutional oversight in the absence of the Probation Institutions Supervisor; supervises juveniles in custody; and performs related duties as required.
