1. Four years of increasingly responsible experience in the preparation and maintenance of cadastral maps including one year of lead or supervisory experience; or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Mapping Technician II within the area of specialty, with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of: the principles, practices, procedures, and techniques necessary to plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise the activities of a map drafting or map graphics functional units, which may include the laws and regulations pertaining to assessment practices, and or the concept and techniques of computer-aided drafting and geographic information systems.
Job Description: This classification is distinguished from the class of Mapping Technician II by the overall responsibility for the effective operation of a major functional unit, whereas the class of Mapping Technician II is a lead position. Duties may vary depending on assignments to the Resource Management Department, Surveying Division of the Public Works Department, or the Assessor's Office.
