Paralegal Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. Possession of a valid Paralegal Certificate; or,
2. successful completion of a paralegal curriculum approved by the California or American Bar Association; or,
3. successful completion of the first year of law school training in an accredited law school AND six months of experience as a paralegal; or,
4. one year of experience as a paralegal; or,
5. equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of: legal and court procedure, terminology, and documents; methods of legal research.


Job Description: This class is distinguished from the Legal Research Specialist class in that the research work and analysis performed by incumbents is reviewed and approved for use by an attorney, and is not itself under judicial submission. Further, the Legal Research Specialist job class requires active membership in the State Bar of California.


About Salary: Paralegal (#5579)

$21.09-$25.75 every hour / $3,669-$4,479 monthly / Range: 5446

Paralegal-Restricted (#5580)

$21.84-$26.67 every hour / $3,799-$4,638 monthly / Range: 5516

Definition: Under general supervision, assists attorneys in the research, analysis, and interpretation of civil, criminal, or land-use legal issues and cases; and performs other related duties as required.
