Project Manager - Grants

Ability To Work:

1. Possession of a Bachelor's degree and significant professional experience in: a) project management of multi-disciplinary team(s), preferably in the public sector or a service-oriented agency in the private sector that interfaces with public safety agencies; and, b) significant professional experience overseeing grant and federally funded programs applicable to the Probation Department such as Title IV-E, MediCal and TANF; or,
2. equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of: Principles and practices of project management; and process engineering and re-engineering techniques and practices; principles and practices of specific technical field associated with project; principles and practices of business and public administration; research, analytical, and data collection techniques; principles and practices of management, supervision, and training; federal and state regulations related to the project; and budget administration.


Job Description: Project Managers are distinguished from departmental managers by primary assignment of highly skilled and specialized project management of time-limited highly technical projects. Project Managers are also distinguished from departmental managers by management of multi-disciplinary teams made up of professionals from all sectors of the County, external consultants, citizen participation advisors, members assigned from other governmental agencies, non profit organizations, and the private sector.


About Salary: N/A

Definition: Under administrative direction, leads multi-disciplinary teams working to develop and implement a Community Corrections approach in the Probation Department. The incumbent in this position will also maintain currently established external revenue offsets and develop program service delivery systems consistent with regulations of various revenue sources. This is an at-will position, exempt from Civil Service provisions. The incumbent serves at the pleasure of the Chief Probation Officer.
