1. Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, child development, or other behavioral science related to medical social work; or,
2. completion of 40 semester or 50 quarter units in social work, psychology, sociology, child development, or other behavioral science related to medical social work and one year of experience performing duties equivalent to a Health Education Associate for Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Additional Requirements: Independent travel between County facilities and client homes may be required; possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License. Selectees must, as a condition of employment, sign statements agreeing to comply with Section 1166 of the California Penal Code relating to child abuse reporting and Section 15630 of the California Penal Code relating to elder abuse reporting.
Knowledge of: socio-economic/psycho-social factors affecting individual behavior; practical application of child development/parenting principles; social abnormalities; risk factor assessment; interviewing techniques.
Job Description: This classification is distinguished by its responsibility for providing professional-level assessment of a client's medical, social, and emotional needs in order to develop an individualized service plan. This class is distinguished from the Medical Social Services Practitioner class by the Case Worker's responsibility for less complex or serious cases.
About Salary: $19.19-$23.42 every hour / $3,337-$4,074 monthly / Range: 5256
Definition: Under general supervision, provides case coordination
to medically or psycho-socially at-risk clients of the Public Health
Department; and performs related duties as required.
