EDP Office Automation Coordinator Supervisor Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. Three years of experience coordinating the purchase and use of personal computers and related equipment with full understanding of DOS operating system and IBM microcomputer software products with one year providing supervision of staff; or,
2. one year of experience performing tasks equivalent to the class of EDP Office Automation Coordinator-II; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Knowledge of: general concepts of microcomputer technology and related software; IBM Personal Computer (or compatible) hardware and software including (but not limited to) DOS, networks, Novell Netware, Higgins, Word Perfect, TSO, VTAM, Lotus 1-2-3, Multi-Mate, and DataEase; computer communications including micro to mainframe connections methods used in operation of a mainframe terminal; Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN); data base design and implementation; systems analysis methodology; principles of office automation systems; office procedures including business and accounting practices and equipment; principles of supervision and training techniques.


Job Description: This is the working supervisory class in the EDP Office Automation Coordinator series. Incumbents are responsible for the supervision of EDP Office Automation Coordinator, and Senior, and the daily activities of the office automation section for selection, installation, maintenance and updating of personal computers county-wide. This class is distinguished from the EDP Office Automation Manager by direct consultation to departments in the purchase, training and use of computer software and hardware, and by the latter's responsibility for overall management and direction of the County's automation services. It is further distinguished from EDP Office Automation Specialist by the supervision of day-to-day operations, and by the latter's responsibility for specialized functions such as Local and Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN) or data base management.


 

About Salary: $32.39-$39.54 every hour / $5,634-$6,878 monthly / Range: 6306

Definition: Under general direction, plans, organizes and supervises the services and staff of the office automation section of the Data Services Division, General Services Department; provides technical support and training in the use of office automation systems and equipment; and performs related duties as required.
