Hydrologist Senior Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. Possession of a bachelor's degree in one of the physical sciences or civil engineering and four years of experience in hydrologic or hydrogeologic work; or,
2. possession of an advanced degree in a related field and two years experience in hydrologic work; or,
3. equivalent combination of training, education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Additional Qualifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.

Knowledge of: the advanced principles and practices employed in hydrology, water supply, drainage, flood control, surface water, ground water, and other related aspects of hydrology; the legal requirements governing public hydrologic programs; the principles of supervision.


Job Description: This is the senior journey level class in which incumbents are expected to have sufficient background in County policies regarding water use and reclamation. The Hydrologist, Senior, differs from the Hydrologist, in that incumbents are assigned more complex tasks that require development of original analytical techniques, definition and development of policy recommendations, and may supervise technical staff including Hydrologists.


About Salary: $33.08-$40.38 every hour / $5,753-$7,023 monthly / Range: 6348

Definition: Under general direction, performs advanced technical hydrologic analysis, makes policy recommendations, may supervise technical staff, and performs related duties as required.
