Investigative Assistant Senior Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. Two years of experience performing investigative interviews and/or compiling and displaying information for use in criminal and/or civil cases, or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to Investigative Assistant with Santa Barbara County, or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Completion of some college course work in criminal justice or law enforcement related areas are highly desirable.

Additional Qualification: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.

Knowledge of: the criminal justice system; criminal and civil prosecution; basic investigative procedures and techniques.


Job Description: The Investigative Assistant, Senior is distinguished from the Investigative Assistant in that the Senior is assigned a more complex workload, supervises interns, and acts as coordinator for Federal, State and local computerized applications. Investigative Assistant classifications are distinguished from the Criminal Investigator classifications in that Investigative Assistants are not sworn peace officers and cannot make arrests, serve search warrants, and carry firearms.


About Salary: $17.80-$21.74 every hour / $3,096-$3,780 monthly / Range: 5106

Definition: Under general supervision, performs moderately complex general office and field investigation of criminal and limited civil cases; assists in trial preparation and presentation; and performs related duties as required.
