Pharmacist Supervising Job Description

Ability To Work: Possession of a valid Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy; and,

1. Two years of professional experience as a Pharmacist, including one year in a supervisory, lead, or PIC capacity; or,
2. one year of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Pharmacist-in-Charge with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and license.

Additional Qualifications: Independent travel is required.

Knowledge of: modern pharmacy management issues such as accounting procedures within medical payment/reimbursement programs; information technology related to pharmacy operations; inventory control; pharmaceutical chemistry and manufacturing methods; state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the legal operation of a pharmacy including the storage, dispensation, and use of pharmaceuticals.


Job Description: This is a single-position class. The Pharmacist, Supervising is distinguished from the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) in that the PIC is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance of a single pharmacy, whereas the Pharmacist, Supervising is responsible for planning and directing the work of Public Health Department pharmacies countywide. The Pharmacist, Supervising is further distinguished from the PIC in that the former has full supervisory responsibility for all Pharmacists and PICs.


About Salary: $54.69-$66.76 every hour / $9,511-$11,611 monthly / Range: 7356

Definition: Under general direction, plans, organizes, and coordinates multiple pharmacy operations for the Public Health Department; compounds or dispenses pharmaceutical drugs and prescriptions; and performs related duties as required.
