Planning And Development Deputy Director Job Description

Ability To Work:

Building and safety Specialty:

1. Two years of supervisory experience in building permitting and inspection; or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Building Engineering Inspector, Supervising with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the above employment standards and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Development Review, Comprehensive Planning, and Energy specialties:

1. Two years of supervisory experience in land-use planning; or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Supervising Planner or Energy Specialist with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the above employment standards and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License may be required for some positions.

ALL SPECIALTIES:

Knowledge of: principles and practices of program and project management; principles and methods of management analysis, supervision, and performance management; program performance budgeting; public counter and public information practices.

Building and Safety Specialty:

Knowledge of: building practices and materials in structural, plumbing and electrical construction; the Uniform Building Code, the Uniform Plumbing Code, Uniform Mechanical Code, State of California Building Regulations, and the National Electrical Code; code enforcement problems and methods.

Development Review, Comprehensive Planning, and Energy Specialties:

Knowledge of: policies and procedures of local government planning operations; federal and state laws and regulations related to planning and zoning; current trends affecting planning practice.

ALL SPECIALTIES:

Deputy Directors for Development Review, Comprehensive Planning, or Energy will have knowledge of policies and procedures of local government planning operations; federal and state laws and regulations related to planning and zoning; current trends affecting planning practice;
