1. Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management or closely related field and 5 years experience in project management experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity/role or,
2. equivalent combination of training, education, and experience which would demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge of: Principles and practices of project management; and process engineering and re-engineering techniques and practices; principles and practices of capital improvement projects; principles and practices of business and public administration; research, analytical, and data collection techniques; principles and practices of management, supervision, and training; federal and state regulations related to the project; budget administration; building codes; principles of bidding; HVAC principles of maintenance and repairs methods; principles of electrical and building repairs.
Job Description: Project Managers are distinguished from departmental managers by their primary assignment to highly skilled and specialized project management of time-limited highly technical projects. Project Managers are also distinguished from departmental managers by management of multi-disciplinary teams made up of professionals from all sectors of the County, external consultants, citizen participation advisors, members assigned from other governmental agencies, non profit organizations, and the private sector.
Projects Managers in this classification are allocated to General Services and the Park Department. In General Services, the position manages capital improvement projects including capital equipment replacement, large remodels and new buildings, short and long range planning of space needs for county departments and making of recommendations regarding the feasibility of leasing of space. In the Park Department, the position manages projects related to recreation services and facilities, the Park Department's capital improvement program, grant and bond funding, lease agreements, and planning and land use issues. Both managers report to executive staff.

THE POSITION: Under the general supervision, directs multi-disciplinary teams completing specialized and highly technical projects related to capital improvement projects. Works with interdepartmental project teams involved specialized capital improvements projects and performs other related duties.
