1. Possession of a bachelor's degree and significant professional experience in: a) project management of multidisciplinary team(s), preferably in the public sector or a service-oriented agency in the private sector; and, b) a field related to State and Federal Disaster relief; or,

a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.

Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act; Code of Federal Regulations (44 CFR); State National Disaster Relief Act; National Disaster Assistance Ace (NDAA); Title 19 State Regulations for disaster assistance eligibility; NEPA and SEPA practices Office of State Regulations; Uniform Building Codes and County Codes and Standards; Engineering, Construction, and Appraising; Damage Survey Report writing; Standard office software; principles and practices of project management; and process engineering and re-engineering techniques and practices; principles and practices of specific technical field associated with project; principles and practices of business and public administration; research, analytical, and data collection techniques; principles and practices of management, supervision, and training; federal and state regulations related to the project; and budget administration.
Job Description: Project Managers are distinguished from departmental managers by primary assignment of highly skilled and specialized project management of time-limited highly technical projects. Project Managers are also distinguished from departmental managers by management of multidisciplinary teams made up of professionals from all sectors of the County, external consultants, citizen participation advisors, members assigned from other governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and the private sector.

THE POSITION: Under administrative direction, leads multidisciplinary teams of managers and professionals from the Public Works, Auditor-Controller, and other County departments in the coordination of Public Works' State and/or Federal disaster assistance recovery efforts. This project manager will serve as the County liaison to Federal and State representatives. This project manager will also monitor all claims for recovery; coordinate all FEMA, State and County inspections and meetings concerning recovery efforts; prepare Federal and State Damage Survey Reports, Hazard Mitigation Proposals, disaster grants and appeals; and perform related duties as required.
