Refuse Checker Supervisor Job Description

Ability To Work:

1. Three years of experience involving estimating weights and collecting fees for refuse materials; or,
2. two years of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Refuse Checker with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. equivalent combination of training, education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.

Knowledge of: volume-weight relationships of various types of refuse and vehicles; safe work practices and regulations; proper unloading procedures and traffic direction; and basic math to balance cash register receipts to funds received.


Job Description: This class is distinguished from the Refuse Checker by its responsibilities for assigning, scheduling, training, and evaluating work of Refuse Checkers at the transfer station and landfill disposal sites.


About Salary: $18.46-$22.53 every hour / $3,210-$3,918 monthly / Range: 5178

Definition: Under general supervision, supervises the work of Refuse Checkers at the transfer station and landfills. Supervises and participates in: estimating weights and load composition, determining, collecting, and tabulating disposal fees; directing and controlling traffic; and enforcing refuse ordinances and safety rules; and performs related tasks as required.
