Ability To Work:
Level I:
1. Six months of cash handling and related clerical recordkeeping experience; or,
2. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the employment standard listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Desirable experience: experience working in a(n) title company, escrow office, or other setting that would provide working knowledge of property tax escrow accounts.
Level II:
1. Eighteen months of clerical accounting experience that included a combination of cashiering and property tax escrow account duties; or,
2. one year of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Treasurer-Tax Collector Operations Specialist I with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Level III
1. Three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience that included: a combination of cashiering and property tax escrow account duties and experience operating cashiering and remittance processing systems currently used by the department; or,
2. eighteen months of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Treasurer-Tax Collector Operations Specialist II with Santa Barbara County; or,
3. a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of:
LEVEL I: U.S. monetary system; cash handling practices; basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and percentages; and current filing methods to accurately maintain and receive records.
LEVEL II: In addition to the Treasurer-Tax Collector Operations Specialist I knowledge listed above: clerical accounting procedures; property tax payment and collections system concepts and procedures, including escrow accounts; and modern office practices, including file maintenance.
LEVEL III: In addition to the Treasurer-Tax Collector Operations Specialist II knowledge listed above: advanced clerical accounting procedures, including account reconciliation; basic California Revenue and Taxation Codes; and remittance processing system and procedures currently used by the department.
