1. Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Psychology from an accredited college or university with major course work in behavioral or health sciences, with possession of a California State License as a Clinical Psychologist; and,
2. three years of experience in drug and alcohol abuse programs with one year providing supervision; or,
3. equivalent combination of training, education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge of: theories of human behavior and personality development and their application to the assessment and treatment of emotional, behavioral, drug and alcohol disorders; current methods of psychotherapy and counseling for adults, families, children and groups; clinical psychotherapeutic supervision methods and techniques; drug and alcohol treatment and diversion programs; program and treatment evaluation techniques; applicable laws and regulations for substance abuse clients, and mental health agencies; -Cal and utilization reviews.
Job Description: This class is responsible for service model development and the clinical psychological supervision of sub-contracted agencies providing drug and alcohol treatment and intervention services. It differs from the Drug and Alcohol Program Administrator in that the latter is primarily responsible for the management and direction of the division and supervision of County support staff.

Definition: Under general direction, provides psychological
consultation, clinical supervision, and technical assistance for
drug and alcohol abuse programs with sub-contracted treatment
agencies; makes psychological observations and advises members of
the criminal justice system for specific case inquiries; advises and
provides direction to treatment staff, community service providers
and the public on rehabilitation, treatment and intervention
services; and performs related tasks as required.
