Utility Worker Institutions Job Description

Ability To Work: A combination of training, education, and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Additional Qualification: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.

Knowledge of: English grammar and usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports; basic math to place supply orders and maintain inventory.


Job Description: This class is distinguished from Utility Clerk, Departmental by the assignment of duties in a detention facility, including supervision of work crews of inmates or juveniles in custody.


 

Salary: $14.51-$17.72 every hour / $2,524-$3,081 monthly / Range: 4696

Definition: Under direction, maintains inventory of linen, clothing, and supplies; operates detainees' property room; accepts delivery of and transports supplies; provides various services to the different bureaus of the Sheriff's Department, including but not limited to any of the Sheriff's Custody facilities, or to detention facilities operated by the Probation Department; performs and/or supervises inmates or detainees performing minor housekeeping tasks and repairs; performs related duties as required.
